The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most popular and exciting cricket tournaments in the world. With the 2023 season just around the corner, there are some new rules that will change the game and make it even more thrilling for cricket fans.

Here are five new rules that will change the game in IPL 2023:

  1. Powerplay Overs The Powerplay overs, which are the first six overs of a team’s innings, will now be split into two parts. The first four overs will remain the same, but the last two overs will be taken at any point in the innings by the batting team. This change will add a new dimension to the game and make it more interesting.
  2. Free Hit for No-Balls In IPL 2023, any no-ball bowled will result in a free hit for the batting team. This will discourage bowlers from bowling no-balls and will give the batting team a chance to score big.
  3. X-Factor Player Each team will now have the option to substitute one player after the 10th over of the first innings. This player will be called the X-Factor player, and they can be substituted for any player who has not batted or bowled more than one over.
  4. Timeout In IPL 2023, there will be a timeout that can be taken by each team. The timeout can be taken at any time during the innings, and it will last for two and a half minutes. During this time, the players can discuss tactics and strategies.
  5. Short Run The third umpire will now have the power to overturn a decision on a short run. This means that if the on-field umpire gives a decision of a short run, the third umpire can check the replay and overrule the decision if it was incorrect.
